Meet the Team - Jessica

Jessica Waller - Pyschotherapist - Mindful Recovery

Jessica Waller is an experienced Psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. She holds a master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy and specialises in addiction and addictive behaviours, trauma, relationship dynamics and children and young people.

Jessica is trained in the Person-Centred Theory of practice, which means she keeps her clients at the centre of everything they do together. Although they know more about themselves than

anyone else, there are times in life when they may be looking for someone to listen to them, help them process their emotions, or provide them with a different perspective.

She takes a non-judgmental and empathic approach to therapy and mental health. Through counselling and psychotherapy, Jessica helps her clients connect the dots in their life and better understand who they are and their purpose. Her goal is to create a safe space for them to share their struggles while empowering them to live a happier and healthier life.

Experience

Jessica has a wide range of experience in the recovery sector, having worked across Europe in some of the world’s most prestigious clinics. She can offer individual sessions as well as work with groups of people. Some of her experience includes Crisis Intervention, Live-in Therapeutic Support, Families, Workshops (including creative expressions, meditation and breathwork sessions) and Children and Young People.

Most of her work is focused on helping individuals and their families to overcome addiction. As an Addiction Therapist, Jessica recognises the word “addict” can hold a lot of negativity and stigma. Often, people only think of addiction in extreme contexts, like drug or alcohol addiction.

But addiction can take many forms, one may be struggling with an obsessive-compulsive behaviour or an addiction that isn’t a substance. For example, gambling, sex and love, shopping, or food. Addiction is not about the quantity of the substance used but rather it’s the reasoning behind the use.

Whether her clients are in treatment currently or just left, Jessica can help support them in achieving long-lasting recovery. Taking the first step in their recovery journey can feel incredibly difficult, but ongoing support provides an opportunity to regain control of their life. It can also be helpful to prevent relapses and continue building healthier coping mechanisms.

Jessica has supported many of her patients to reach long-lasting recovery by integrating psychotherapy with a focus on self-therapy, supporting them to create their own solutions.

Jessica's approach

Deciding to get help is the first step of many and can make one feel vulnerable and nervous. This is entirely normal. Jessica wants to reassure her clients that there's no expectation to tell her the deepest, darkest parts of their life straight away. She recognises that trusting someone new can be difficult and adds to feelings of vulnerability. It is Jessica’s commitment to her clients to build trust and a good relationship. She aims to make all her clients feel safe, relaxed and supported. She is there to listen to them help and guide them, where appropriate, through whatever challenges they may face.

Within her work, Jessica likes to use different expressive tools to help her clients open up their emotions, which can be tailored to their needs. She’ll create a bespoke treatment plan for each client, integrating psychotherapy, timelines, meditation, visualisation, and creative expression.

Jessica is there to stand beside her clients and walk through their journey with them, facing issues head-on together.
